Our Rector
Formally, a rector is the ecclesiastical authority of the parish. The term is derived from the Latin for “rule.” The rector has authority and responsibility for worship and the spiritual jurisdiction of the parish.
Rev. Sara's Story
I've been at St. Luke's since March 2019. It's been a wild and sometimes challenging few years, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
My career path has been a winding one. Prior to coming to St. Luke’s, I served as a street chaplain to people who are unhoused in the Tenderloin and Mission neighborhoods of San Francisco. I also worked for several years in fundraising and communications for an organization that provides shelter, housing, and services to unhoused folks in Connecticut. Most recently, I managed communications at a large Presbyterian church.
I grew up in Casper, Wyoming, where most of my family still lives, and I spent many years in New Haven, a city I adore. I hold a B.A. in Journalism and Creative Writing from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut as well as an M.Div. from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California. I was ordained at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco in 2017.
I love to read (particularly science fiction and fantasy epics), write, and run. I’m also a geek for public transportation and far prefer MAX or bus to a car.
